Last year 140 potential recipients, including 20 children died waiting for an organ donor. As a result the Rotary Club of Williamstown has initiated an Australia-wide project called: 'HAVE A HEART, GIVE A PART' Its' aims are:
This new innovative method of harvesting organs will vastly increase the number of organs available for donation in Australia and worldwide. The Bob Rose Have a Heart Organ Donor Appeal will be launched at the end of November in conjunction with the International Symposium on Non Heart Beating Donor at the Alfred Hospital. The funds raised over the next 3 years will be distributed to the various research centers in accordance with the attached flowchart.
